Social Network Buttons - Advantages & Disadvantages: Facebook, Twitter, RSS, YouTube, XingLinkedIn. All social networks have their raison d'être. But what about data protection? How important is data protection compared to the benefits of social networks?
Social network buttons - advantages & disadvantages: Data protection
Especially in Germany data protection is a major issue for social communities. There are veritable witch hunts taking place on the predominantly American networks, which are therefore in Germany also have greater problems establishing themselves than in other countries.
Many Germans are therefore simply afraid to register with social networks. Where this fear actually comes from, who benefits and initiates it, or whether it is justified is a broad topic.
The fact is, there is a comparatively quite prominent data protection law in Germanywhich gives professionals more opportunities to use the limits than beginners. Beginners are simply afraid and respect the data of others and the professionals on the Internet have good lawyers who tell them exactly what is still possible. This could also be a reason why the issue of data protection keeps coming to the fore.
Pros like Google, Facebook, Xing or LinkedIn know exactly how far they can go and sometimes also exploit their internationality and the resulting gray areas to be successful. Beginners such as simple bloggers and website operators simply adhere to the applicable law or respect the data and privacy of others wherever possible in order to save themselves additional trouble.
But why is data protection so important to Germans?
Are we perhaps the ones who have suffered the most from misuse of data in the present and the past and have thus lost trust in our fellow human beings and the state? Do we take ourselves too seriously? Are we too honest and not superficial enough with the way we handle our social profiles on Facebook, Twitter & Co. Or is our own data really that important? Could it also be that the Germans have optimized or perfected the advantages of using the personal data of others for their own benefit and have formulated the toughest laws to safeguard their sinecures?
Ultimately, I keep finding that my German family, friends, acquaintances, customers and users of this website are very careful with personal data. My larger clients, however, simply have a good lawyer for Internet law who shows exactly how far you can go and where the gray areas are. Things are very different in other European countries. You only write in your profiles what both the tax office and grandma are allowed to read and thus manage not to isolate yourself by being absent from social media.
So what is data protection now, an advantage or a disadvantage?
Advantages & disadvantages: Daily use
In the daily use of social network buttons, it depends on how professionally you use the buttons and their forums whether you have advantages or disadvantages. In principle, higher activity can have more advantages than disadvantages erlangen. Of course, it also depends on whether the target group even exists in the social community used, whether the target group is growing or shrinking and how high the absolute number of potentially interested users is.
The decisive advantage is that you can find users and potential customers on Facebook, Twitter and other sites. The disadvantage is that you can lose users there.
The answer lies in the quality of the content, how interesting and up-to-date the content of the competing media is and how skillfully the linking is adapted to the target group. A positive example of this is Twitter, where internal and external linking is very easy.
A negative example is StudiVZ, which did not get anywhere in the past because it simply did not allow external links. You should therefore link to the right social networks in a target group-oriented manner and also be active there regularly.
Staying away from social networks that are important to you leads to partial isolation. In other words, you slam doors before you have even looked inside and simply leave interested users out. This also often rules out success, because success on the Internet has a lot to do with Traffic on its own website.
