The most sought-after cosmetic surgery among Germans is hair transplants. The Google Search volume for the procedure for mostly male patients averages 36,000 searches per month. This is the result of an analysis of Google searches by Germans over a period of more than 3 years - from January 2020 to May 2023 - and an examination of the 130 most searched cosmetic procedures according to their frequency.
Hair transplantation most frequently sought after
The most frequent search is for "hair transplant". With an average of 36,000 searches per month, Germans are most interested in this cosmetic surgery. In second place is "microneedling" with an average of over 31,000 searches. Microneedling, also known as dry needling, involves injuring the skin with many tiny pinpricks in order to activate the skin's natural repair mechanisms. This regular procedure is followed by the well-known lip injections in third place with over 18,000 inquiries. This means that only half as many people are interested in lip augmentation than hair filling. Breast augmentation came in fourth place with just under 17,000 searches in the period under review, followed by eyebrow lifting with 15,000 searches.
Breast augmentations twice a year are particularly interesting
Although breast augmentations are only in fourth place among the most interesting beauty procedures for Germans, they are subject to a particular trend. The number of Google searches rises to over 19,000 at the beginning and middle of the year, while falling to under 14,000 in the meantime. Overall, the fluctuation over the period under review amounts to around 30 percent. Possible factors for this could include the start of the new year and the summer vacation season.
Largest increase in Google searches for eyebrow lifts
With around 15,000 search queries per month, "eyebrow lift" occupies last place in the top 5 rankings in the overall study. However, interest has increased by more than 50 percent during the study period, meaning that eyebrow lifts are the absolute frontrunner in terms of search query growth. While the number of Google queries was still around 10,000 in January 2020, it had grown to over 15,000 by May 2023. Due to a brief peak in January 2022 to over 22,000 search queries, the average number of queries is also around 15,000 per month.
Costs
In an additional evaluation, in which cosmetic procedures were examined in connection with the word "cost", hair transplants also took first place here, with an average of 9,500 inquiries per month. This leads to the conclusion that Germans are most interested in this type of cosmetic surgery and are most likely to make concrete plans to undergo such a procedure.

About the investigation
From January 2020 to May 2023, over 100 of the most searched Google queries per month were in the category of cosmetic surgery in Germany analyzed and ranked based on the average. Laser eye surgery was excluded.
